ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT – GLASGOW

Working with our client based in Glasgow we are recruiting for a talented Accounts Assistant to join their team at a successful international optics manufacturing company. Working closely with the Accounts Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral part in the smooth running of the Accounts Department in both the finance and administration processes. Training will be provided for the right person regardless of experience. The existing finance department consists of a team of 4, therefore the role will consist of a diverse range of tasks and exposure to different areas of finance and accounting.

The role requires a strong knowledge of excel (pivot tables and look ups) and a basic knowledge of accounting principles.

The Role:

  • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of the company bank accounts in multiple currencies and payment providers.
  • Investigating all outstanding and unreconciled items.
  • Managing customer refunds.
  • Updating internal systems with regards to any refunds made on third party software.
  • Daily liaising with customer care teams and IT departments to resolve payment and invoicing queries.
  • Using Worldpay / Paypal / Shopify an Amex Payments systems to identify and resolve AR discrepancies.
  • Monthly reconciliation reports for month end accounts processes.
  • Testing of systems changes with regards to implementation of pricing updates.
  • Handling banking queries during internal and external audits.
  • Intercompany invoicing consisting of charge posting and AP.
  • Processing of journals onto company ledgers.
  • FX Transfers.
  • Daily revenue reporting.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in an accounts setting is advantageous but not essential.
  • Existing knowledge of Navision or third-party payment platforms is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A logical and analytical thinker who questions all information presented.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver.

Salary : £20k – £26k DOE

Location: On-site working in Glasgow area
