Are you an experienced Buyer / Planner looking for a new and exciting opportunity? If so, this could be an ideal opportunity for yourself. One of our clients based in Aberdeen are looking for a Buyer to come join them on a full-time, permanent basis. This opportunity would ideally suit someone who has previous experience within a Buyer position and proven track record of negotiating.

As a buyer you will be responsible for ensuring the sourcing strategy of our client is executed to a high standard. You will also be responsible for ensuring a strong working relationship is maintained between multiple departments throughout the organisation.

The key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist purchasing manager to prepare, coordinate and manage agreements
  • Ensure prices are competitive from suppliers
  • Coordinate weekly material demand reports
  • Purchase materials and ensure orders are delivered to suppliers on time
  • Negotiate with clients and ensure savings are met in line with organisational objectives
  • Maintain communication with suppliers to ensure raw materials are purchased at the right price
  • Financial analysis
  • Liaise with the finance department to prepare month end reports
  • Monitor any rebates and targets
  • Help ensure the procurement strategy is implemented successfully
  • Liaise with other departments for forecasting demands
  • Coordinate any bid meetings
  • Ensure supplier expediting is monitored, reported and carried out
  • Build solid relationships with suppliers

The key skills / knowledge and experience required:

  • Previous experience of planning and purchasing is essential
  • Previous experience within a busy organisation
  • CIPS qualification would be desirable
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Confident negotiator
  • Excellent IT skills
