Permanent Design Engineer Aberdeen

Job Purpose

To support the Product Development department, via direct or indirect involvement in:

1. Design activities to support projects and technology development.
2. Design and review of new and existing technology.
3. Developing 3D CAD part and assembly models and drawings.
4. Producing 2D CAD layout and schematic drawings.
5. Performing Engineering verification analysis to assess suitability of design.
6. Supporting test activities to qualify and validate equipment designs in accordance with procedures and industry standards.
7. Supporting the Product Development department in meeting the ongoing business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop designs in line with design request and equipment technical specification.
2. Provide design engineering support to the business.
3. Creating quality designs, drawings, calculations and supporting documents in line with design request requirements.
4. Support engineering cost and delivery estimates for projects.
5. Ensure project progress is sufficiently communicated to Design Engineering Manager and key project stakeholders.
6. Checking of technical documents associated with design development.
7. Ensure business and design development engineering processes and procedures are adhered to.
8. Responsible for writing technical documents and specifications for new and existing products.
9. Supporting handover of new technology / equipment to Product Line Department.
10. Adhere to company QHSE policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Training:

Essential

1. Degree qualified in relevant field (mechanical, electro mechanical)

Preferred

1. BOSIET and MIST
2. Working towards Chartered Engineer or already Chartered

Experience:

Essential

1. Engineering experience in mechanical equipment design
2. Design development of new products / technology
3. 2D and 3D CAD systems Performing tolerance studies at assembly level

Preferred

1. Experience working in Oil and Gas Industry
2. Experience with drilling, solids control or drilling fluids areas

Knowledge/Skills/ Competencies:

Essential

1. Hand calculations and FEA for verification of design
2. 2D and 3D CAD modelling and drafting
3. Driving Licence

Preferred

1. Autodesk Inventor
