Job Purpose:

To work as part of a design team in seeing conceptual designs developed from ideas through drawing, justification to codes and standards, manufacturing, testing and support of field technicians. This role will be focused primarily on supporting Qatar scopes with flexibility to go to Qatar region as and when required by business for design support. Candidate should be willing to move to Qatar for a long stay if required in future.

 

General:

Taking technical direction and guidance from the Engineering Manager, TA, Lead Design Engineers & Project Technical Leads

 

Leadership:

  1. Working under the guidance of the Lead Design Engineers, assuming technical disciplinary responsibility for design related tasks and activities
  2. Provide support for Draftspersons, Trainee Draftsperson & Graduate Engineers

 

Ownership and Accountability:

  1. Ownership and responsibility for drawing completeness and demonstration of fitness for purpose of all drafting tasks undertaken
  2. Checking of drawings produced within the department and making sure drafting and company standards are met.

 

Risk Management:

  1. Identify risks and develop mitigation plans and review with SE/Team Leader

 

Design Reviews:

  1. Present technical proposals & designs at concept and detailed design reviews relating to but not limited to drafting.

 

Design Tools:

  1. Familiarization and efficient use of design tools (Autocad, Inventor, etc)

 

Support:

  1. Provide design support to other company functions as required
  2. Provide design support and guidance for the manufacturing, assembly & test

 

Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure high quality drawing and related documentation are produced within the department
  2. Ensure compliance with design practices/templates/guidelines/standards and approved processes throughout the company

 

Internal Training Requirements:

  1. Environmental Awareness
  2. COSHH Awareness

 

Qualifications:

  1. Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  2. Chartered status with IMechE or similar would be an advantage

 

Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge:

  1. Competence in using 3D CAD packages
  2. Competence in Ansys or other FEA packages
  3. Competence in MathCAD
  4. Experience in a design engineering environment
  5. Knowledge of Oil and Gas pipework design, installation and operation
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft AX system would be an advantage

 

Personal Qualities:

  1. Highly motivated, enthusiastic, team player, but be able to work on own initiative
  2. Having the ability to communicate with all levels of staff
  3. Established and strong interpersonal skills
