To generate detailed mechanical designs to support the company’s product portfolio and operational/business needs. Designs are to be verified with regards to integrity and function against relevant company and international standards.

 

Job Role & Responsibilities:

  1. Interpret client needs and develop designs from conceptual stage though to the finished product with a focus on design for manufacture.
  2. Design heavy lifting appliances, accessories and associated machinery to industry standards for use in the offshore and marine industries
  3. Analyse and optimise designs by hand calculation and FEA
  4. Conduct / assist in FEED studies
  5. Create Engineering calculations packages to validate designs
  6. Generate, check and revise Engineering documentation as required
  7. Managing technical elements efficiently and effectively to ensure best and timely solution is provided

Essential:

  1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HND
  2. A good understanding of engineering principles
  3. Experience in the design of fabricated structures/ lifting equipment / deck machinery / HPUs or similar industrial equipment
  4. Experience designing to DNV-ST-0378, E271, E273 or similar standards
  5. Knowledge of rotating equipment design
  6. Experience with prime movers, drives and hydraulic power systems
  7. Competent in creating mechanical design calculation packages and familiarity with mechanical stress calculations
  8. Experience using MathCAD
  9. Experience selecting machine components – bearings, shafts, gears, etc.
  10. Experience writing technical specifications, FAT’s, OMM’s, etc
  11. Experience using Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD software
  12. Experience using FEA (Autodesk Nastran or similar)

 

Desirable:

  1. Experience with offshore structure or grillage design
  2. Relevant Offshore experience
  3. Current Offshore survival BOSIET \ Medical \ MIST
  4. Chartered Status
  5. Experience using STAAD Pro
  6. Experience with Autodesk Navisworks
  7. Knowledge of International Winch and Deck Machinery markets, products and associated drive and power systems (including applications)
