Job Role

The Design Engineer develops and maintains design layouts, models, drawings, and other documentation needed to define, produce, and sustain downhole drilling products.

 

Main Duties

  1. To generate a variety of Engineering designs; both conceptual and based on existing products.
  2. Verify designs through calculation.
  3. Use of 3D CAD software to create detailed models, drawings, layouts, and bill of materials as per company standard.
  4. Provide Engineering support via engineering calculations, finite element models and V&V testing to verify design and or technical queries.
  5. Leads technical reviews, DFMEA and field failure analysis when required.
  6. Prepares technical user documentation (SWI’s).
  7. Prepares V&V testing documentation and in-line with HSE and Risk assessment measures.
  8. Participation with relevant teams to ensure product viability and suitability for market and actively optimise cost of service delivery.
  9. Build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing and may be required to setup and run lab simulations.
  10. Mentor junior engineers when required.
  11. Maintain familiarity with the company technology, organisation, and business.
  12. Understand and provide technical solutions based on applications and customer requirements.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Educated to a degree level or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant previous experience in Design orientated roles.
  2. Must have significant experience in CAD software.
  3. Must have previous experience, knowledge and understanding of the design of downhole drilling tools, drilling environment and applications.
  4. Able to work on own initiative under minimum supervision.
  5. Must be a team player and possess good interpersonal skills.

 

Remuneration
On offer for this position is a salary of around £35-45K if mid-level and higher if they appoint someone more senior, as they can mould the position to suit.
