Permanent Senior Design Draughtsperson Aberdeen

Job Purpose

The Product Development team are responsible for leading new technology development and supporting existing product designs, product modification and equipment installation. The Senior Design Draughtsperson will be responsible for developing engineering drawings and technical documentation for a range of products and projects in accordance with department processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Developing designs in line with design request and equipment technical specification
2. Developing 3D CAD models in Autodesk Inventor
3. Developing 2D CAD models in AutoCAD
4. Producing manufacturing, assembly, general arrangement, layout, fabrication, machining, process flow, Piping and Instrumentation (P&ID) and schematic drawings
5. Developing design concepts and solutions to satisfy design request requirements
6. Evaluating feasibility of design solutions in consideration of risk, ease of manufacture, cost, and lead time
7. Creating and issuing design instructions for the manufacture or modification of products
8. Performing onshore and offshore dimensional surveys
9. Providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team
10. Preparing 3D CAD renders for sales and marketing material for supporting new engineering projects

Qualifications/Training:

Essential:

1. Appropriate qualifications in engineering draughting

Preferred:

1. Chartered or working towards
2. BOSIET / MIST

Experience:

Essential:

1. Extensive experience in engineering design and draughting
2. Competent in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
3. Capable of carrying out dimensional surveys

Preferred:

1. Designed electrical and hydraulic equipment
2. Experience with Autodesk Vault
3. Worked within the oil & gas industry
4. Mentoring junior members of the department

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

Essential:

1. 2D AutoCAD
2. 3D Autodesk Inventor
3. Dedicated to promoting a positive image of the company
4. Driving licence

Preferred:

1. Autodesk Inventor Stress and Displacement Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
2. Autodesk 3DS Max
3. Knowledge of solids controls and / or waste management technologies
4. DNV Container design
